These boots were made for walking

Nancy Sinatra sang this song many years about her boots being made for walking.....................................................

Walking is a great way to get fit and you do not need to spend a fortune on fees for the gym to do it.

The beauty of walking, is that you can walk wherever you are. Whether you live in the city, the country, by the beach or in the mountains there is always somewhere you can walk.Image result for city walking

If you live in a city it is advisable to walk early in the morning when there is less traffic around and hence less pollution. Image result for city walking

Apparently, as long as you are walking at a reasonable pace it does not make a lot of difference if you walk faster or slower... The optimum speed is about the pace at which you would walk a dog...If you don't have a dog, you will just have to guess, or perhaps the answer is to get yourself a dog! .. then it is more difficult to get out of going for a walk too, no matter what the weather.

If you walk, you can walk anywhere and even when you are on holiday you do not have to interrupt your fitness regime. You will just be able to walk somewhere completely different, perhaps along a beach, or up a mountain.

If you are going for a walk and follow these simple guidelines you should not go wrong.

1. If you are walking in an area you are not familiar you should check with someone locally, on the best places to go.
2 Are there any areas where it is not safe to walk?
3. If you can, it is a good idea to let someone know roughly where you are going, and how long you expect to be.
4. Take a mobile phone if you can as even if you are in an area where the signal is poor they will usually ensure you can contact the emergency services.
5. Make sure you have comfortable well fitting shoes which are suitable for the terrain on which you plan to walk.
6. Ensure you wear suitable comfortable clothing, take a lightweight jacket as it can rain even in the tropics.
7. Take water with you in a suitable bottle and if you are going for a number of hours make sure you have some food, at least a high calorie snack bar.

Enjoy your walk....
